Include GUI Wizard, including License Agreement?

Hi

I'm sure this is something very simple.

I've repacked Notepad2 into an MSI, which replaces Notepad with Notepad2.

I'd like to include something saying I packaged it, but thaat the software is Florian Balmer's.

Please tell me how to include;
- A GUI Wizard
- A license agreement

Thanks in advance,

Panarchy

You need to add a dialog box (or boxes). The major tool vendors Wise and InstallShield include dialog editors, plus a pre-rolled dialog ready to accept License Agreement text. If you're not using one of those, I really don't know how you get new dialogs into your MSI. Particularly tricky is how they're stored in the Binary table. I guess it would be documented somewhere on MSDN or in the SDK but, TBH, it would be simpler to just use one of the tools.

BTW, how are you replacing Notepad? I hope it's by altering its file associations. It's not a major biggy, but lots of apps load their ReadMe files (and other text files) and so on by explicitly calling NotePad.EXE. Of course, they *shouldn't* but...

You can use msi2xml to check the cleanliness of my script.

No registry changes are made.

Is there no way using AppDeploy that I can include a Wizard interface?

If not, how long before I can expect the AppDeploy project to be completed?

Just asking!

If not, how long before I can expect the AppDeploy project to be completed? You don't want much for free, do you?!? Get your employer to spring for a full-blown authoring tool or, if you want to stay cheap, have a look at Wix. If your project is already Wixed, I wouldn't know, as MediaFire and other personal storage sites are blocked by my current client.

Too bad I can't attach files on this forum.

Try using a proxy to get around your restrictions.

Or would gigasize work?

My project is on AppDeploy'd at the moment.

If a client goes to the trouble of blocking sites, they'll certainly be wise to the use of anonymising sites, too, as this client is. Anyway, as I say, you'd best get a proper tool.

If this is a one-off requirement, you can use the trial version of AdminStudio. It creates the dialogs you are looking for by default with a new project.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
