Hummingbird Exceed 9

Has anyone had any luck creating a working package for this without a lot of modifications?

I have a working package for our Radia environment, but it took 6 months of trial and error... All the other Hummingbird apps packaged fairly easily.

My requirements was 1 profile for all users, with a lot of custom .xs files added into this profile along with a custom setup for component choices.

It works except for file association - meaning if you click an file.xs it won't quickstart Xstart.

I've now been tasked with creating a generic install of the App then subsequent packages for all the customizations.

Thanks in advance,

David

You are a brave man. Custom Exceed installs = pain X pain + some more pain. If you want a plain install it's not so bad. The easiest method to install Exceed is to perform a per-machine install and set ADDLOCAL to ALL. I can't remember if you have to set SetupType to Complete as well.

Yes, I've always been a glutton for punishment... It must come from growing up nerdy??

Want the big laugh. This was my second package EVER. Probably wouldn't take me 6 months to do now if I had never seen it before.

And like I said my custom install works perfectly. All users have 1 profile, all the custom files work, all the custom settings work. But I hacked the registry up really well to get it all to function. I hate MST files, so i refused that option. :)

Basically this new package I just have to remove some of the options they don't want, and add in a couple that aren't default ON. I'm guessing I know this app as well as the developers at Hummingbird now so I know I CAN make it work, just haven't seen ANYTHING here or anywhere else about packaging v9.x. Everyone seemed to give up at 7.x or 8.x. Hummingbird even bawked at helping me after awhile. :C

Thanks for the reply,

David
