How to write a Windows enterprise software deployment script in basic or vbscript?

I'm new to script writing and reviewed several sites but I'm unable to find how to do this. Should robocopy be used? Can someone help start it? What sites/books, etc are recommended?  A System Administrator uses scripts to updates, i.e., printer driver, patches, etc.
