How to stop and disable the computer browser service

First post, YAY!

Anyway, looking into a script using our newly updated Kace K1000 appliance to deploy a package to client PC's so that the computer browser is stopped, and then disabled.

We don't need to lock it down from users enabling it again, just need to stop and disable it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Peter

If only there was a resource on this Internet thingy that you could, say, type words into and get a list of web sites with answers to questions like this...the guy who gets that up and running would be minted.

I would use the SC command, run that from a cmd prompt and get the help for it.

you can stop a service (like net stop) but with SC you can also disable a service.

Curious; you NEED to stop & disable it, but don't need to prevent users from starting it again?  Why?
