DON'T use the SelfReg table. It relies on any dependencies your package has being present. If they're not present, registration - and your install - will fail. Extract the COM information from your DLLs/OCXs and create .REG files from that information. Then, import the file(s) into your project, ensuring that your authoring tool is set to use Windows Installer advertising tables, rather than self-registration.

Assuming you are having a windows installer package , you can use self reg table or do it the recommended way by using Advertising tables.

Nice blog entry!
