How to force the KACE agent to re-install itself automatically via GPO

Hey guys,

Sorry the title may be a tad confusing but I'm currently doing some tests with the KACE Agent. When I delete the KACE agent from a PC, I was wondering if there was a way for GP to detect that it is missing and to re-install it?

Right now I have the rule set on Group Policy to install the KACE Agent on PC's within the group. I know i'm doing something wrong here but I'm pretty new to all of this :)

Thanks,

M

if you fully uninstall the agent (not only deleting its components) the GPO software install extension will install it again.

But I do not suggest to do this via GPO.

The better way is to use installation via the K1000 agent provisioning.

If you go to K1/adminui/client_update.php and configure the agent to auto update and repair broken agents ( check Enabled + Update Broken agents ) the agents should always work fine. Provision it via K1/adminui/provision_config.php (for many systems) or K1/adminui/provision_single_machine.php for a single machine.

I always assume your box has the name "K1".

  • Thanks Nico. We use both GPO and the K1000 Agent provisioning to deploy the KACE agent in our environment. We saw an additional 10% of our computer show up overnight after having the GPO in place. - GeekSoldier 11 years ago
  • Thanks Nico,

I'm guessing that I have to select "Deploy to all machines" for the provisioning to run? - Mobzy 11 years ago
  • Also,

It seems that if a Kace Client is removed from a machine, the machine seems to be taken of the Kace inventory? Is there a times limit before the inventory removes it or something? - Mobzy 11 years ago
