How to create distribution-reporting with VB or Custom Action ?
Hiya ..
Running a relatively small site with no real budget for SMS2003 or alike suites, I was wondering .. did someone ever put up some sort of (distribution) reporting by i.e. using a VB or Wise Script (custom action) in your default installations ?
Plain said: I want every machine to write to it's own .txt file on some server, containing all installed apps .. all on a cummulative basis, so when something gets deinstalled .. it's has to be taken out of the list ..
But then again, that's all I came up with ..
Maybe someone has better/brighter idea's on this ..
If anyone could hint me in the proper direction, that'd be great !

Why not make a custom action to write out a MIF. I forget the name of the tool that comes with SMS for writing out MIFs. I think it is MIFGen or something like that. Then SMS can take the MIF and load it into the database for centralized reporting.
