How to add a external document URL to a knowledge base article?

We are just beginning to create our knowledge base and I'm looking for information on how to add a external document URL hyperlink to the text box of the KB. I'm seeing articles about using the href command but I'm unable to make it work, just displays as part of the text box

  • I replaced http://example.com with the url I'm trying to redirect to and the phrase Link Text will be clickable becomes a hyper link to the root of my K1000 server. What am I doing incorrectly? - mhuston 6 years ago

Do you have "User Markdown" enabled? HTML links are in the form:
<a href="http://example.com">Link Text which will be clickable</a>
