I've been asked to deploy a list of Windows fonts to all of our users. My original plan was to use one of our servers as the distro point, and execute a script copying the fonts from there into the Windows\Fonts directory with Robocopy.

However, my bosses want me to use KACE as the distribution point. Is it possible for me to do that with a vbs script? If so, can anyone please advise how? I'm very new to scripting, and still working out proper syntax for everything.

  • Although you could do this via a script you can also do it via a file synchronization task. Just zip the fonts, key in your destination, some creds and you should be good.
  • If all the fonts go into one area, use File Synchronization under the distribution module. Zip up all the fonts and upload them to a software title you manually create under Inventory > Software. You don't need to create a script to just copy down files.

This might be helpful as well:

  • Gracias, both of you. The file sync didn't work, something about it not actually installing the fonts, but I didn't know what file sync did at all, so that is awesome help!

I ended up using a script to install the fonts after all, but now I'm running into another problem, which I'll detail in a separate question. Thank you both!

You can either upload it as a software inventory item (deploy through file sync or MI) or as a dependency in a script.

In a script, it would probably be easiest to use a zipped package and have the Kscript unzip the files into place.
