To learn what the "specified log file" is may require viewing logs. Check the Application Log in Event Viewer (eventvwr.exe).
If you cannot find a reference here, see our tip on turning on Windows Installer logging here. Once logging is enabled, attempt the action again and look in your %TEMP% folder for the installer log file. Far more detail on the problem will be provided here.
The location of the log file may not be accessible due to security limitations- or it may be that a corrupt version of the log file exists and cannot be updated.
