Health monitoring
Is anyone using client health monitoring tools, hopefully integrated into Systems Management products?
Any add-ons/ scripts that integrate into SMS 2003? Very basic functionality would suffice (like SMART HDD monitoring / temperature probe on HDD or CPU fan RPMs / Memory errors) - just want to get a feel of usefullness of proactive monitoring without delving into commercial products or proprietary vendor WMI implementations...

I don't know of any good ones but I am also interested in hearing if anyone has used an for client workstations. Are there add-ons to SMS? How reliable are they etc? I would think whatever the solution would be you would be able to filter event log events so you only receive the important ones. I would also like to see the ability to monitor services and stuff as well.

Check the tools that come from the PC vendor. Some of them are designed to integrate with SMS. Most of them are asset management tools but some of those apps will make MIFs or if the app hooks into WMI you can configure SMS to pull that information.
