Give Rights On a Folder, in Windows 7
Hello ppl
I am trying in Wise to give Full rights on a folder = C:\Program Files\TestFolder
I can see in Wise that the Users (group) have full rights on the folder, but
when i install the MSI, nothing happens. Under the security tab, the Users
still havnt got the full rights.
I have also trying to use Subinacl. It works In WinXp, but when i do the same in Win7, via a custom action,
nothing happens.
I hope you guys can help me out.
I am not so good at it, so plz just explain in details.

I'm assuming that you first tried using the Lock Permissions table in Wise. Remember that when you use that, it will overwrite whatever the existing permissions are set to and only add what you put. So if you only put Users, that's all that will have perms. If you need to use the Lock Permissions table, then be sure to put System and Administrator groups in too and give them full permissions as well as the Users group.
Also, create a verbose log file and then find your custom action and see if it's working correctly.

I tried again and it did work with subinacl.
BUT when i try to use the the LockPermission in Wise, where i had added , the Users and Administrators group,

And all the subfolders, dont inherit the rights.
Is it because its Windows7, cause on XP, it also give rights to Subfolders.
Really wants to know, why it dont inherit the rights on subfolders in windows7...... ????

That would the MSILockPermissionsEx table, of course. Quite why Microsoft felt implelled to include the 'MSI' prefix for an object which only appears in MSIs escapes me but then what place did logic have in so much of what they do?
