Gathering inventory in KBox
What is the best way for inventory management in KBox Server? Should we trace computer inventory through “IP Addresses” or “BIOS Version Number” or any other way. The idea is to get least duplicate entries in the inventory with easier management.

I have ours setup based on system name and hardly ever get duplicates.

I would agree with using system name, but you can always use MAC Address, or service tag. It's just easier with system name because it is human readable. - philologist 11 years ago

In our environment, there are about 3000 computers so there is a positive chance of duplicate computer names.

Sounds like you need a new naming convention. We have over 20,000 with no duplicates. - dugullett 11 years ago

If needed, you can use MAC addresses or service tag as above, which should have a reasonable amount of uniqueness for 3,000 machines. - philologist 11 years ago
