error 1325

Hello,

I'm encountering an erro when trying to create an admin install point.

The actual command i'm running is "MSIEXEC /I {path to .msi} TRANSFORMS={path to .mst} SHORFILENAMES=TRUE TARGETDIR={path to where i want the admin install to be created in}

I'm gettign the following error: "Error 1325.helpcentre is not a valid shor file name."

The admin install is created ok w/o trying to create one with shortfilenames.

Anyone encountered this before and give me some pointers as to how to resolve. BTW it imperative that i have shortfile names due to the wonder of Radiqa which is the method for the pacjage to be deplyed.

cheers in advance.

If you want to create an administrative installation point, you should use "msiexec /a ....", not "msiexec /I". Also, applying transforms when creating an administrative install have no effect, you have to apply them when you perform an installation onto the client.

As for your error message, it looks to me that the file named "helpcentre" doesn't have a short file name in the file table, and thats what's causing the error. The file names should be spesified as "<short name>|<long name>", for example "helpce~1|helpcentre".

Sorry meant to type /a in the post. Have had a look at the tables and found a not conformative 8.3 w/o a shorfilename. Have added on and now work when creating the admin.

Cheers "sikkert" uve saved me some time trying to resolve this.
