Error 1308 - Source File not found.

I get this error, when I am trying to run a MST I have, which is created from InstallTailor.

I went to that path it says it can not access, but all the file permissions are correct and it should have full access.

Any Ideas ?

Cheers

TG

The Original source folder has inside it.

\source\Docs
\source\Win32
\source\release.pdf
\source\setup.exe
\source\setup.ini

Inside the Win32 folder, there are loads of cab files and CrystalReports.msi and instmsi.exe and instmsiw.exe.

I could just use that MSI and put a MST on that, why didnt I see that before. Hmmm

I will check on the other things you said as well.

After finding out that the MSI was in that folder...how stupid was I not to notice that. So I didnt really need to do a Admin install. This seems to cause the issue of Error 1308.

I put a MST on the MSI that was in the Win32 folder and it seemed to work. I will test it a bit more, but so far so good.

Thanks for you help AngelD

One, your post makes no sense whatsoever. What do you want to download? What do you want send to your email?;
Two, it's not a particularly good idea to resurrect threads from so long ago. Start a new one.

Did you add new files through the MST?

No I havent, its strange as all I have done is to create a MST, change a few paths in the dialog box upon creating the mst and then finished it. And InstallTailor creates a shortcut and the MST. Thats it.

Does it matter if the path is quite long ?

what is the command line you're using to install the msi with the transform?

Did you mean: MSIEXEC /i "<path of MSI>" TRANSFORMS="<path of MST>" ?
How long is the path as you asked about this?

The path is about 9 folder deep, it is running from a Admin install i did. The file was an EXE, so I did a /a and extracted it to a folder and in that folder is the MSI file and its directories.

Did you try a shorter path just to make sure it's not the lenght that is preventing you from installing?

I dont think I can make the path shorter and the app is looking for that file in that place.

Ah you mean the extracted file directory is 9 folder deep, though you mean the distribution point.
Can you log the installation and post the relevant log snip?

I want you to so something for me because I have tried to install "BusinessMAP 4.0" from ESRI but it can't be done over a network share, so first try to install the package locally from the computer to see if that helps.

Just to verify; did you get the media from a CD/dvd and if so was it more then one? Did you copy the content from all cd:s/dvd to the network share?

I copied all the CD on to a shared area and then did a admin install on to another shared area.

So I have :

\\......\MSIFILES\ArcGIS9.1\Crystal Reports 11\Source (from the cd)
\\......\MSIFILES\ArcGIS9.1\Crystal Reports 11\CR for ESRI (this one is the admin install from the source)

I am going to install it from the admin one as i know the source one work as I had to install this a few times so I can continue to package other apps.

Did the original media have compressed cabinet inside or external?
When doing an admin install the media reference may not change proper.
Open the msi in ORCA and view the Summary Information, make sure that the "Compressed by Default" isn't marked.
Also look in the Media table how the entries are set up, not pointing to a cab but external files instead.
And ;) verify that the msidbFileAttributesCompressed attribute bit isn't set in the file table.

Thats all I can think of, hope anything helps!
