Epal (Microsoft Elevated Privileges Application Launcher)
I have an application that need to run as and Admin because it updates it self weekly from the server. When I say update I mean reinstall. I have looked at file and Reg security for this app with no luck. This app differently needs to be an admin.
So I started looking at different ways around the problem, and found “Microsoft’s Elevated Privileges Application Launcher†EPAL. After a few hours getting it working I thought I was on a winner. Then can my problem.
I’m launching the application that takes about 60 seconds to start up using EPAL . After the 60 seconds it then switches to a local EXE to run the application, but if I try to launch a second instance of the same application using EPAL on a different machine within the 60 seconds, I get the following error “ The process can not access the file because its being used be another process.†As this application is used by over 1000 users I need uses to be able to launch the application when required, not one at a time.
Can anyone please help?
