Epal (Microsoft Elevated Privileges Application Launcher)

I have an application that need to run as and Admin because it updates it self weekly from the server. When I say update I mean reinstall. I have looked at file and Reg security for this app with no luck. This app differently needs to be an admin.

So I started looking at different ways around the problem, and found “Microsoft’s Elevated Privileges Application Launcher” EPAL. After a few hours getting it working I thought I was on a winner. Then can my problem.

I’m launching the application that takes about 60 seconds to start up using EPAL . After the 60 seconds it then switches to a local EXE to run the application, but if I try to launch a second instance of the same application using EPAL on a different machine within the 60 seconds, I get the following error “ The process can not access the file because its being used be another process.” As this application is used by over 1000 users I need uses to be able to launch the application when required, not one at a time.

Can anyone please help?

It doesn't help you but any app which, in 2007, requires membership of the local admin group belongs in the bin. Have you contacted the vendor to find out how other corporate customers manage the app?

I agree the software vender "Avand Pty Ltd", should have developed "DataWorks" better. I have even logged three support calls with no answer. I would stay away from this product if you have the option.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
