Does registry settings need to be changed for Meltdown patches ?

Our kbox has the Meltdown patches but it is not getting installed on machines via KACE patching.

Does the anti virus registry settings need to be changed in order for KACE to apply the Meltdown patches ?

  • Nope, your Antivirus needs to make the Registry key modifications, once they are done, KACE (and any other deployment tool) will be able to detect those as missing and then deploy them.

    • Yes after I manually made the AV registry change, our kbox did detect the patches and they got downloaded into our kbox. But I was not able to push them via KACE. So I created a KACE script to make the AV registry change which I pushed via KACE, then pushed another KACE script to reboot all PCs after which I was finally able to push the needed Microsoft Meltdown patches.

When I spoke to KACE support regarding this, the tech suggested we upgrade our kace agents from 6.4 to 7.1 or up.

We are going to upgrade our KACE server and agent to version 8.0 next week.

Thank you. - endlessknot 6 years ago
