dll registration problem!

Hi there!

I am currently repackaging AspenTech Manufacturing Suite with Wise Package Studio 5.6 and came across some .dll registration problems. When I install the app some of the dlls don't get registered correctly I assume due to some registry keys that have to be exclude from the package. Now when I unregister them manually so that all the dll regkeys get deleted and manually register them again everything works fine. Second I am able to register some of the apps dlls via regsvr32 that wise cannot register. Is there a simple way to find out what registry keys are being automatically created when a dll gets registered?

Yep, try WiseComCapture - you can register the dll and capture the reg keys created to a .reg file

You can then import the .reg file into your msi and just include the .dll file in the file table. Don't use selfreg it's rubbish...

Cheers,
Rob.

WiseComCapture? Is it included in the Professional Edition of Package Studio?
