Deploying Sap GUI 710 via SMS

I am using SMS to deploy SAP GUI 710, but i am getting a faulting application NwSapSetup.exe, version 8.1.0.124, faulting module NwSapSetupUi.Dll, version 8.1.0.124, fault address 0x0001703a, error on the workstations. I could manually install the GUI or map the network drive and install the GUI with no problem.
Any help will be appreciated.

There's no realistic way anyone can know why the app is erroring in this way. I suspect that a dependent DLL registration has failed (with SAP handling that in its usual gracious way...) but the only way you're going to find out is by using a process/file/registry monitor as the app runs.

I'm not in my office ATM to check our error logs but it does sound like a problem with a DLL.

However, some of the early versions of SAP-7-10 have problems running using NWSAPSETUP over slow network links - and these create come wierd errors that mention anything but network speed! For example two PC's could be side-by-side, one will install SAP, the other fails. Swap the network cables over and the failed machine will work. It was the slow speed on one that caused the issues.

So I would check the network speed of the PC's you're targetting. I know it sounds stupid but I'm not joking, SAP-7-10, really is picky about network speed.

EDIT: Click here for an example of a log file where SAP has failed due to network speed.
