Wouldn't that depend on the package? I guess it ought to detect Vista and set the compatibility mode (or whatever MS is calling it this week) for the application.

I don't mean the compatibilitymode, but the windows virtual PC with the "win xp mode" & "win xp mode applications" in WINDOWS 7

You presumably watched http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/media/doc-app.asx (a playlist which eventually ends up at http://mediadl.microsoft.com/mediadl/www/w/windows/virtual-pc/Win7_XP_mode_App Install_750.wmv)

It wouldn't run on my vanilla machine here and my VMs are tied up with - shock! - work so I couldn't say if it would help or not :(
