Changing Computer Hostname

I am pretty new to using this KACE system. I am wondering if anyone knows or has a script that will allow me to change one of my clients laptops. Hostname and computer Description. If anyone knows if this is possible and or has a script that will allow me to do this I would highly appreciate it.

Thanks

I would suggest using wsname.exe.
Here's a very good explanation of how to use it:
How to rename a computer and join it to a Windows domain in the KACE K2000...

That's how I did it, with some minor modifications. But that one works great.

I saw that thread. But I don't want to join a domain just change the hostname. Maybe I can just pull the hostname changing part out of it. I would also however like to be able to change the computer description too.

That is also possible with wsname. You can choose to change the computer name only and you can also set the computer description.
I recommend this site where all switches have been listed: Workstation Name Change

/SCD should be the one you are looking for.

just change the host name by just right click the my computer option and select the computer name tab and click on change button to change the computer name and the host name.Cegonsoft

right click the my computer optionWow! This is a stunning new development for the Kace devices.

It appears that they are now able to spontaneously sprout a mouse AND at least one arm with which to click the mouse's buttons.

Please take your hopeless "marketing" practices elsewhere.

Well it appears that windows 7 machines do not come with this wsname file. How would I go about getting this file on the machine and executing the command properly?
