Hi ,
For wise certification we need to use and be familier with almost all the tools in wise package studio.
Also you need to have a fair idea about the MSI technology.
For MSI technology you can refer
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa372463(VS.85).aspx

Also you can have a fair bit of about the exam pattern and the topic covered from the given below link
http://www.altiris.com/Services/Certification.aspx

I hope this will be useful for you.

Thanks

I can tell you that there is no cheap way to prepare other than to memorize the help files of the products you're preparing for. If you do that you'll pass. I'm assuming that you're already working with the product and pretty familiar with it so you'll have ready access to all the help files. If not the cert won't do much good anyway. Other than that you have to take the expensive Wise Classes. Wonderful if your company pays. Otherwise.....? Good luck! I found the online practice tests are really worthless for preparation.

If you've done the RPWS course, a lot of the anwers to questions in the exam can be found in the manual, so I would recommend to go through all the review questions, read the book cover to cover, familiarize yourself with all the extensions you would come across with Wise (ie. msi, wsi, mst, msp, msm blah blah blah). If you haven't done the course however, familiarize yourself with every toolset within Wise, check diff states (ie. with Test Expert, diff status settings you may come across like Pending, Pass, Fail). Definitely do alot of study with regards to MSI technology (particularly self-healing/repair and sequences)

Hi Experts,

In connection with the above post, I am working with Installshield 2008. I would like to know if there are any certifications available specific for packaging with Installshield?

Since because I have not worked with Wise, I cant proceed with wise certification(believe).

I heard that there is a certification named CAP (Certified Application Packager). Does anyone know any information about this?

Darwin Sanoy offers a certification for windows Installer at www.windowsinstallertraining.com

its not globally recognised but if Darwin has anything to do with it I am sure it would be more beneficial than a stamp you could get from Wise or IS in terms of knowledge gained.

At a wild guess, I figure that the Altiris web site http://www.altiris.com/Services/Education2/InstructorLed/APAC.aspx would be a good place to start...

John, I reported the failed pages when I posted my response. So far, no confirmation, no "thank you", nothing.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............that explains it..................According to:

Kimberly Sanchez-Paul Princ. Educ. Course Developer, Symantec Education Symantec Corporation
the site has completely the wrong link. No surprise there.

Go here http://www.altiris.com/Services/Education2/Events.aspx instead.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
