Can't see components in Wise Package Studio

Hi,

I am trying to create a package using Wise Installer Package Studio 4.62 PE (the version is old, but I have to live with it for the time being). The problem I'm having is weird since it's the first time this has happened in my venture with packaging.

I need to create a package that includes COM components. I have done exactly what the Wise Installer help section says about Adding MTS/COM+ files. This is what it says
"the WiseComPlusApp and WiseComPlusComponent tables in the Windows Installer database will be updated with the information entered in the MTS/COM+ page".

My problem is when i carry out the steps, I just can't get the WiseComPlusComponent table to be updated with the components list and their class ids!
I have even tried creating a new package but the WiseComPlusComponent table would still not update on a package modify.

What exactly am I missing here please? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info, I'll be glad to supply.

I have finally got this fixed! [:D] I had a previous version which I managed to get the changes on and this time, i didn't mess with the MTS/COM+ section. However to avoid an error 1911 I was encountering during installation, I had to remove the Type Libraries from the TypeLib table of the ones that were failing.

Thanks

Fantastic! So now you have a package which fails to register the app's type libraries. Whilst you're clearly pleased with that result, I suspect your client won't be.

I don't know the version you're using but does it have the WiseComCapture utility? If so, I'd avoid the using the custom Wise tables (it's generally a good idea to stick with standard tables, BTW), use WCC to create .REGs from the relevant files, import the .REGs into Wise and, if prompted, elect to have the data put into the advertising tables rather than the Registry table (or custom Wise tables).
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
