We use a batch job to pull backups onto our NAS and then we mirror to our DR site. We've also purchased a 3 VM license (very cheap) so we can restore the DB to a VM and have an operational KBOX in the event of hardware failure on our K1000.

  • I know this is a somewhat old post, but airwolf, what is a 3 VM license and where can we purchase one? Is this the only way to set up a VM using the backups in the case of a hardware failure? - horstj 10 years ago
    • I'm not sure if the same license is still offered. You'll need to contact your Dell KACE sales rep. - airwolf 10 years ago
  • Alright, thanks for the advice. - horstj 10 years ago

I have daily backup tasks being ran on my backup server to back up the KBOX Management system based on Kace's article (Automatic Backup). We have not hit our Imaging KBOX too hard so I back that up when I make changes.

We also use VM to restore the KBOX should the KBOX crash, which it has twice due to our SAN. I basically keep the backup KBOX's up to date as I would the main KBOX. Then when the time comes, all I have to do is upload the backup files from the main KBOX to the backup KBOX and it is ready to go.
