For wise macro just use site:myitforum.com "Paul Teodorescu" wise macro as the search phrase in Google.
The Altiris & AppDeploy forum should provide some previous posted macros.

Automation....like what? Do you mean driving WPS itself, or using the Installer object? If the latter, there's a ton of stuff both here and elsewhere on the Web. MSDN is a good place to start, along with downloading the Windows Installer SDK. For the former, I think macros are your only option: you could try the WPS forum at Altiris.com but I don't recall seeing anything of significance in my x years of participation there.

While searching do a search for "Wise Macro" and "WfWi.Document".

I agree that wps macro language support and examples are almost non-existent. OTOH, I've used them for repetitive tasks that have to be done on lots of packages. It's really just VBscript optimized for Windows Installer and Wise.

True but is the object model to be found anywhere? Shouldn't there be at least SOME examples on Altiris's web site?

Hi guys,

There has been posts regarding wise automation at the Altiris forum, you just need to search the archived posts as they get archived after 180 days. There should be plenty of examples for you.

You may also want to have a look at Wise Automation Reference and Wise Software Repository Automation found at http://www2.wise.com/sysadmin_resources_page.asp

Cheers!

Ah....you need inside information, you see? Why is it so hard to find? Entering 'automation' into their search box produces NO link to the page you specified (or none that I could easily find, anyway). Indeed, the page that the link takes you to features the word 'automation' only in connection with Office.

I downloaded those 2 links you suggested. They might be great resources, but don't have anything to do with the Wise Macro language. All they've got in those repositories is c# and VB code

site:myitforum.com "Paul Teodorescu" wise macro

thanks AngelD, that looks great! I'll definitely bookmark that for later use.
Never seen a wise macro on this site or altiris.com, but maybe they're just well hidden....
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
