Auto populate Location Field in Devices

Kace 1000 In Devices I made visible the "Location" field. Is there a way to automatically populate this with info KACE can pull from Active Directory? Id also like to do this with the "Department" field. If I have to manually enter these for 1000's of computers, it will be a nightmare!

I believe that the Location and Department fields are actually stored in the associated computer Asset. You can import a CSV file with the information if it isn't dynamic enough for that to be a problem. Otherwise you can use a custom service desk rule to make changes to the asset tables.

Chuck is right on the money.

This is tangential, but I want to mention you can apply labels to devices based on AD information. For example, if a computer in AD has "Location" as "San Francisco" you could apply a label like "Device - Location - San Francisco" and have the LDAP query re-run at check-in like other smart labels to reflect any changes in AD. You can create these Labels in Home > Label Managment > LDAP Labels

You can map Labels via LDAP (AD) and if you are importing users you can import the attribute "physicaldeliveryofficename" and map it to Location for Users, then that could be looked up as well.
