Asset Management

I am new to the Kace Software - When we image a machine it adds the kace client software and then Kbox see's it and then adds it to our system as an asset. It adds our asset number automatically but does not add its mac address. Is there a way to have the MAC address and the service tag added directly when kbox see's it? We have a person that then goes through and adds that information but it seems that the KACE software could do that - K1000 and K2000

  • I do not know what your goal is, but you could always create a report with the required fields. Run it as excel and then reimport it back into kace if you need it in a more dynamic capacity. What is your goal? I understand the fields you are trying to bring together but why? - Jbr32 10 years ago

If the machines are checking in, the K1000 should show both the serial number and the MAC address in the computer's inventory detail.

The MAC address of the network connection that was active when inventory was taken is listed in the Summary section, the rest are under Inventory Information>Network Interfaces.

The serial number should be listed under the summary as well.  If it is not, it should then be listed under Inventory Information>Hardware>BIOS Serial Number.

If you aren't getting those, you might have an issue with WMI or there could possibly be another issue like the motherboard getting replaced and the serial number wasn't set.

If you are still having problems, update your post here or submit a ticket to KACE support.

KACE won't pull both the MAC and Service tag over to the Asset Computer table automatically. It is one or the other. You can export out the information form Inventory and import into Assets what you need.

I think that is what you are trying to do, get both the MAC and Service tag to show under the computer in assets.

  • If that is the case then he can always right a ticket rule in some obscure service desk queue to pull that information over. Simply match up the computer name with that in the inventory & asset table then have it update any information directly across. - Wildwolfay 10 years ago
