Hi Mahesh,

You don't have to reveal your location. BTW it is all depends on your area of interest. If you want to start your career in software deployment and software distirbution then this would help you to reach upto somelevel. You would need to learn some other tools along with this. Like Operating System Administration, Group Policy, Active Directory, Deployment Tools, other packaging tools like Admin Studio, Installshield. Scripting languages like Wise script, VB script, etc.,

So just taking training in Wise package studio is not going to help without learning other tools...

It depends upon on you take it up
If you want to be an Application Packager.., Wise Package Studio/Installshield should be a good tool to learn
If you wan to be an Administration, then you might have to learn deployment tools along with WPS.

Hi Mahesh,

The quality of what you can learn from the courses are generally dicatated by the instructor. I can only speak for the Wise Package Studio course though. The content of the course is thorough in the sense that you will learn a lot about the Wise Package Studio tool.

However, I would strongly recommend that before you attend the course, you should do a lot of research into Windows Installer technology as this will help you get more out of the course as opposed to just going into the beginner course with the expectation that they will teach you everything you need to know in terms of both Wise Package Studio and MSI technology.

Here's a good place to start for you, http://johnmcfadyen.spaces.live.com/, it's a blog site which explains basic msi tech concepts such as Self Healing, Installation Sequences, Darwin Descriptors etc.

'Ere? What happened to my response to the OP, which I made the same day as the post? >:{ BOB!

Anyway, John's blog is a great resource but I generally direct people first to Phil Wilson's ouevre, The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer. As the OP is going to be a WPS user, the WPS help section on the Dawnstar Technologies site is also useful.
Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,
so that the conversation will remain readable.
