Hello,
I was after a little advice about the best way to deploy scripts etc to our 2nd site, we have quite a good connection to our 2nd site (about 100MB) but didnt know if there was a better solution we could be using rather than across the WAN?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Dave,

I put a 1TB NAS box at all of my remote sites, then replicate my patches/MIs/scripts/etc to that. I use servers at the main site as replication agents, so nothing special was required at the remote site. We don't have nearly the connection you do (most are T1s) and it works well.

Casey, Thanks for the reply.
You setup the kbox's as replication agents to pick up the scripts etc from a remote site, was that easy enough to configure?

Ive been told i should setup a VM with RSA, but that seems overkill for the amount it will be used.

Do you know if there is another physical kbox you buy that can be placed up there, ive been asked to explore all options.

A replication agent is a PC running the agent. Where the remote files are actually stored is any local or UNC path the PC can see.

Replication to a single remote agent sounds right for you dave1kelsey

It was very easy. Essentially you assign a label to the PCs you want to use the replication share (you can also create a smart label).

I believe you could put a 2nd physical KBOX at the other site. I only say that because of the options in the settings tab for linking KBOXs, I've never done it myself.

Gerald has a good point, the replication agents can be any PC. I only use our servers because I know they will be on, and aren't doing anything else at night.
