Adobe CS3 product packaging (licensing) issue.

Hi all, I have previously managed to silently install the CS3 Web Premium bundle using the default installer Adobe provided (thankfully I only have 4 users for the Suite).

I am now trying to package and deploy Adobe Photoshop 10.0 CS3 and Illustrator 13.0 CS3. I am working with the individual products (And not the Suite this time), and am trying to work around the installer using the MSI's.

I tried following some advice in the KB to produce the applications but for both I am failing due to licensing errors. This is what I am doing:

1) Install silently with application.xml.override file in place in the device folder (photoshop/illustrator folders in this case)
2) Launch the product without error and copy over the application.xml file and the cache.db file.

3) I pulled out the folders for:
- AdobeALMAnchorServiceAll
- AdobeVersionCueClient3All
- AdobePhotoshop10en_US_volume / AdobeIllustrator13en_US_volume (which still has the application.xml.override inside)

4) I created transforms based off of all three *modified the en_us.mst for the core app*
- Included the properties ADOBE_SETUP=1 and UPGRADINGPRODUCTCODE=1 in all mst's
- Imported the application.xml file (Adobe_Feature_id17852592) and the cache.db (en_US_applicationxml) files into the core product.

5) Installed msi's in the following order.
- AdobeALMAnchorServiceAll
- AdobeVersionCueClient3All
- AdobePhotoshop10en_US_volume / AdobeIllustrator13en_US_volume

6) After an RC=0 install, I started the FlexNet service, and then I launch the application and recieve errors dictating that the licensing failed (Even though it worked fine for the adobe installer silent install previously).

Thank you all for your help... everyone except Adobe that is :)

G'Day,

Don't forget the pcd.db and the caps.db files as well as the Flenet file adobe_00080000_tsf.data.
I think you will find that VersionCue client and Server rely on Bridge being installed as well.

Basically you need all the payload addons to be installed (we have a total of 37 Adobe addons that get deployed for each individual Adobe CS3 product. They are:

NAME FOLDER TRANSFORM
Adobe Asset Services CS3 AssetServices3 (MST)
Adobe CMaps CMaps
Adobe Camera Raw 4.0 CameraRaw4.2
Adobe PDF Library Files PDFL8

Adobe Extension Manager CS3 ExtnMnger1.8
Adobe Flash Video Encoder lashVideoEncoder2 (MST)
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Standard DesignSuite (MST)
Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard WebSuite (MST)
Adobe CS3 Custom Settings_1.0_R1 (2) Adobe CS3 Custom Settings_1.0_R1

Installed in that order.

Remember that if you are putting both Illustrator and Photoshop on the same PC you will need to provide volume licensed files of the cache.db, pcd.db and caps.db from your vanilla install setup. Don't use single licensed installs as it won't register correctly.
We've done this successfully.

Thank you Wayne for the information. I am going to go forward and attempt to add these files and see where I get.

This particular instance, I am actually working with the individual CLP license versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, and not a full CS3 suite this time around.

I am only adding the Anchor package and Vue Client Server because I thought they were required for the core apps to license, to be honest, im not entirely 100% sure of what they are :) I am just trying to follow the examples in the KB.

I will let you know how this works, thank you very much for your assistance again.

Hi Digitalweezil,

The Anchor package sets up the FlexNet Licensing service for the Adobe products and the Bonjour Service for Apple products.
The Vue client and server allow collaborative adobe projects to be shared by team members and is required by all CS3 suite products or individual latest release Adobe products installed.
Captivate 3.0 which is not part of the CS3 suite, creates it's own cache.db, pcd.db and caps.db files overwriting any existing ones that may have been installed by the CS3 suite apps.
