Admin shares read only after kbox agent install?

Im going to ask just in case anyone else is experiencing this, but our IT department are all domain admins, and before kbox installation we were able to access c$ admin$ and any of the standard admin shares, now the helpdesk are reporting that they cannot write to any admin shares and this has only come up since the agent has been installed. i was wondering if anybody has seen this, if not then i will open up a ticket.

doesn't happen on our network. There is a registry key that you can put in that will cause this sort of behavior, I use it on my machine...

That's not something the agent is designed to do. Unlikely that the agent is related, but support will help resolve it I'm sure.

Sounds like maybe someone may have created a AD group policy.

What does the following key look like in the registry on these machines?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\AutoShareServer

Ive just checked on two of the affected machines and that key isnt there, there is a Shares key but it just has print$ in it, under lanmanserver i have AutotunedParamaters, DefaultSecurity, Enum, Linkage, parameters, Security and Shares with a security key under that.

The agent could certainly change this but it would have to be via something you asked the agent to invoke, for example, a script that modifies the local security settings. Definitely worth examining all the scripts, etc assigned to this machine. Disabling or uninstalling the agent would solve it since the alleged change is not tied to the agent's existence.

ill look into it but so far the agent is doing patching and has only installed VNC so we can remote control users machines.
