Adding and removing files and folders in WINSXS folder

Hi all,

I am currently developing and MSI which requires files to be installed and removed in the WINSXS folder. Iam currently using WISE 5.6 to do this. I have tried putting the files inside the WINSXS folder provided in wise but during installtion in put those files into C:\Windows rather than C:\Windows\WINSXS. Please can anybody suggest me on how to overcome this issue? Any help will be much apprecited.

Thanks in advance

to do this you need to digitally sign the files you need in the SXS folder.

this will mean you need a cert from verisign or a trusted CA of some sort.

the signature files are in the form of a CAT file.

you can look at other alternatives such as isolation to get around this if you do not have access to this kind of infrastructure.

if you are going to use isolation you will need to use the manifest method

but to isolate into winsxs the files have to be digitally signed
