AD & Application Deployment

I want to create a security for all different applications. I want it to deploy to the user once it's installed. Does anyone have a run through on this?

The steps are too lengthy to list out here. Essentially, you want to add a query-based collection, where the query "source" is the AD group.

If you have many to do, this work is beyond tedious to do manually so find a script to do it for you, from creating the group, to creating the collection, through to adding the group to that collection. I'll bet there's a Powershell script (or maybe 2 that you could mash together) somewhere.

A security what? This makes no sense.

Surely deploying *is* installing, no?

And what does any of this have to do with Active Directory?

  • Sorry, it appears I didn't word this very well!

I meant a security group per application that's in SCCM. So, if I want to deploy VLC Player, I'd put the user in said group and it'll be deployed to that person.

I assume as security groups are part of active directory that's why the tag.

Thanks for your help. - syscolvus 6 years ago
