ACDSee Pro 6 MSI Silent Install + SN

Hello,

I am attempting to run a silent install ACDSee Pro 6 which also installs in the process. I have extracted the MSI file from the EXE, renamed as "installer32.msi' and am using the following command to install the software:

installer32.msi /qn PIDKEY='SERIAL NUMBER' ALLUSERS=1 LICENSE_MODEL=FULL

The software appears to silently install without any user intervention, but I am still being prompted to enter a serial number upon inital launch of the software. Please advise, thanks.

The command line you extracted from log, is it right? I mean for most silent installers you dont need to provide quotations for SERIAL_NUMBER. and since u have extracted MSI, why not install it and capture the changes using Install Tailor or Installshield Tuner? and since u also mentioned you are being prompted for serial key on initial launch , try capturing changes when serial key is punched in using picturetaker. I m pretty sure , it will be inside an ini file or a registry or a file would be getting created.

Hi 'talonsprem87', I have looked at the registry after having manually added the S/N at initial launch and found that the following reg keys were changed:

reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\ACD Systems\ACDSee Pro\60\InTouch2" /v "LicenseKey" /t reg_sz /d "INSERTED SERIAL NUMBER IN HERE" /f
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\ACD Systems\ACDSee Pro\60\InTouch2" /v "Trial" /t REG_DWORD /D "0" /f
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\ACD Systems\ACDSee Pro\60\InTouch2" /v "KeyCount" /t REG_DWORD /D "1" /f

I added these registry keys in my script, relaunched the software, same problem. Please advise. - teg_101 11 years ago
- you mentioned script. But what script, batch , vbs, powershell?? if its vbs, use regedit /s "your reg key.reg" to import the registry. And instead of creating registry mentioned above, i suggest, export the registry ( from the machine your application is installed with serial key entered) and import it via vbs. Sorry, but i dont have much exposure on batch and powershell front. - talonsprem87 11 years ago
To clarify, I am using a batch file to make the above noted registry changes, after the installing the software:

- To be very frank , batch scripting is not my forte, but , i believe, there is no need for the quotation marks to appear when adding registry through batch file. and why use reg add when you can use REGEDIT /S somefile.reg. I m pretty sure it will work - talonsprem87 11 years ago

Thank you for the suggestions. 'jagadeish': I tried adding the above noted command, and that did not work. The application installs silently, but i am still being prompted to enter the S/N. - teg_101 11 years ago
- I know it's an old post, but I had to package ACDSee as well and I could not find any information about how to hide the licensing window. I found a MSI property that did the job - ACDID_SILENT=1 - IHoff 10 years ago
