At an awards ceremony held at CeBIT Australia, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) last night announced the winners of this yearÂ’s prestigious iAwards. AIIAÂ’s industry awards, now in their 14 th year, recognise innovation and excellence in AustraliaÂ’s ICT industry sector.

Minister Daryl Williams, Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Patron of the iAwards, presented the MinisterÂ’s award for excellence, the Inspiration Award, to ManageSoft as the most outstanding category winner for the evening. ManageSoft are an Australian based multinational software company that specialises in software management and deployment tools for large and medium size enterprises.

Chief Executive Officer of AIIA, Mr Rob Durie said that the winnersÂ’ products and solutions demonstrate a strong contribution to the Australian economy, reflecting not only the industryÂ’s role as a key economic driver, but its contribution to society.

Mr Durie said, "The iAwards are a clear demonstration that ICT is pervasive and its impact is indeed very powerful. TonightÂ’s winners address key areas such as health, ecommerce and education in sectors representing community, government and the Australian business sector.

"The ICT industry is buzzing tonight. Australia has a culture of innovation and a strong desire for access to the latest technologies. We have a low cost, highly skilled and diverse workforce capable of designing and developing new and innovative technologies and applications. The winners of tonightÂ’s iAwards clearly demonstrate this," he said.

AIIA presents the iAwards during CeBIT Australia to provide these companies with maximum exposure to both domestic and international markets. "On behalf of AIIA I would like to congratulate all the winners. I am confident that iAward recognition will enhance your business opportunities and in turn can further your contribution to the Australian economy," said Mr Durie.

The iAwards are strongly supported by industry and government and are proudly co-presented by The Australian Financial Review, with key partners including Microsoft Australia, IBM Australia, Welsh Development Agency, CSIRO, Hudson Global Resourcing, The British Midlands, Austrade and the Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, ZDNet, Optus, Accenture, Betrusted, Zoo Interactive, and McGills Bookstores.
