KBOX Delivers Industrys First Integrated IT Asset Management and Systems Management Solution for the Fortune 100,000

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – February 20, 2007 – KACE, the leader in IT management solutions for mid-market organizations, today announced a new, enhanced release of its KBOX 1000 Series Systems Management Appliances. The Appliances include several new features and functionalities, most importantly the new KBOX Asset Management Module and support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0, giving customers access to an easy-to-use and affordable line of turnkey IT automation applications that provide lifecycle management of laptops, desktops, and other network devices.

“The KBOX Asset Management Module is exactly what we’ve been asking for,” said Chris Blake, workstation administrator for Benchmark Group. “We’ve been using KBOX for nearly two years now and we’re just thrilled about both the integration and expanded IT asset management capabilities. The ability to track component history will especially serve us well for the approximate 300 workstations, laptops, and PDAs that we use, allowing my department to track IT assets more effectively and efficiently.”

The responsibilities of IT departments for the Fortune 100,000 market, the largest 100,000 worldwide companies following the Fortune 1,000, are growing exponentially. IT departments are now tasked with not only managing computer assets – desktops, servers, software, etc. – but also non-computer assets, such as high-value mobile phones, telecom equipment, and PDAs. To date, these departments have not been fully equipped with the proper technology to track the increasing amount of these assets, or to efficiently manage them through their lifecycle. The KBOX Asset Management Module unifies and automates IT assets from deployment to retirement, increasing efficiency, visibility, and control, all while reducing costs.

“KACE has been delivering world-class systems management in a box to satisfy the IT automation requirements of the Fortune 100,000,” said Rob Meinhardt, CEO and co-founder of KACE. “Now, we’re responding to customer demand by integrating important asset management capabilities. With this new upgrade, our customers will benefit financially and from a security perspective. Expanded license compliance capabilities will drive efficient use of IT dollars. And, enhanced physical asset tracking and configuration management will give IT managers a better handle on physical security and reliability.”

The KACE Asset Management Module, embedded in the KBOX 1000 Series Systems Management Appliances, is part of an integrated inventory, asset, and configuration management solution that automates management of the entire asset lifecycle. KBOX automates key processes, including audit, tracking, and reconciliation of asset data. Additional features and benefits of the module and configuration management database (CMDB) include the following:

• License Compliance – License and usage metering and management allows customers to quickly assess their compliance with vendor licensing policies. Armed with this new data, KACE customers are in a better position to manage licenses and negotiate contracts with vendors – saving time and money, while maintaining great internal IT service levels.

• Security Audit – Physical asset tracking and configuration management capabilities improve security at the physical layer and within the systems themselves. Comprehensive physical asset tracking assures that valuable IT resources remain company property – reducing the potential for loss of property and data. Configuration management and historical change information equips IT managers with the information they need to make certain machines are secure today and remain secure moving forward.

• Notifications and Alerts – KBOX closes the loop for IT management organizations by providing a complete notification and alert engine that can trigger alerts based on configuration changes, license compliance, or based on key milestone dates in license agreements, lease agreements, or other key contracts.

In addition to the Asset Management Module, the new KBOX 1000 Series appliances include support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0, a leading platform for open source computing. Customers using KBOX 1000 can now leverage the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0 capabilities, which include new, fully integrated server and storage virtualization functionality.

The KBOX 1000 Series is a secure, robust line of appliances that provides affordable, end-to-end systems management coverage across the lifecycle, from deployment to retirement. As one of the easiest-to-use, most comprehensive, and affordable IT automation solutions, the KBOX system allows companies to increase IT efficiency, enable compliance, and significantly improve security without interruption.
