HP's Application Packaging Service Selects InstallShield's AdminStudio as its Preferred Application Packaging Solution
BRISTOL, United Kingdom - January 13, 2003 - InstallShield(r) Software Corporation today announced a new partnership with Hewlett-Packard Company (HP). InstallShield is partnering with HP's Application Packaging Service based in Galway, Ireland, to provide highly scaleable, application packaging services to customers around the globe. HP will use InstallShield's AdminStudio(tm) product as its preferred packaging tool when providing packaging services to its customers. The two companies will also collaborate on providing additional consulting and training services such as Packaging Best Practice Definition, Microsoft Windows Installer education and AdminStudio product training.
From its European Software Centre located in Galway, HP will integrate AdminStudio into its Application Packaging Service, which assists customers in tackling the complex, time-consuming issue of application migration, especially in addressing the Microsoft Windows Installer Service. AdminStudio provides an efficient, scaleable solution to package large volumes of applications for enterprise companies.
"Windows XP migration issues are at the forefront of many enterprise's IT activities. As part of their XP migration, a customer is faced with the challenging issue of migrating their entire library of applications. As a result, we are continually faced with large numbers of applications that need to be repackaged to very short timeframes," said Rory O'Connor, Director of HP European Software Centre. "Through our partnership with InstallShield, we will standardize when possible all of our application packaging activity with the AdminStudio solution set.
"We chose InstallShield as our preferred application packaging solution because they have the technology we need. Their track record in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), their product development plans and their willingness to listen made them an ideal partner. They also met and exceeded the demanding standards we have in place when we consider potential partners."
"Enterprise customers recognize the benefits of a Windows Installer standardized desktop. HP's Application Packaging service, by providing a centralized service, either becomes a part of the customer's project implementation team, or part of their overall IT operations group so they can focus on core activities. HP and InstallShield together provide a best-of-breed service provider and toolset to package their applications to the standards, quality and timeframes required," continued O'Connor.
Jim Ryan, Vice President of International Sales and Operations at InstallShield stated, "For over five years InstallShield has provided both consulting and training services to customers located in EMEA. This agreement allows us to extend our existing services and to reach and service more customers in the market."
"AdminStudio continues to be well received by enterprise customers worldwide. Most enterprises need to provide a local service to their users around the world in order to realize the cost benefits that Microsoft Windows Installer Service provides. This typically involves the demand for local support in local languages. As we work with enterprise customers in the area of application migration, we need partners that can provide services on a truly global level. HP was the logical choice."
