InstallShield exe silent install issue

Hi guys,

I have InstallShield exe which I want to silently install.

I did record the installation with:

setup.exe /r /f1c:\test\setup.iss

I put the setup.iss in the same folder as setup.exe.

I tried to run the installation with several methods:

c:\test\setup.exe /s /f1c:\test\setup.iss
c:\test\setup.exe /s /SMS
c:\test\setup.exe /s /v/qn

Btw, it seems setup.iss is detected correctly because if I delete it, then the resultCode is -3.

But unfortunately, the installation does not start correctly - the installation window always open at the same place - so it seems first few windows are successfully processed by instructions from setup.iss, but this one window NOT.

Do you have any suggestion how to pass also this window (it should just be clicked Next) ?

Seems like your are doing everything correctly.

In the past, I have seen the setup.exe prompt a custom dialog which is not part of the InstallShield during the install wizard - thus can not be captured.

Not knowing anything about your setup.exe, and looks like you are doing everything correctly. Maybe have a read of the comments in this page, there are some interesting notes that may apply to you. https://www.itninja.com/blog/view/installshield-setup-silent-installation-switches

If you have access to the MSI within the setup.exe, you could try and work with that installer.

Failing the above, repackage the software into a MSI?

I'd see if the installer is calling a dependant package within it.  Run the install normally but before you answer any questions, poke around for the extracted files.  I'll bet there's another EXE getting launched.  It might also help to look at the ARP table to see if multiple installs appear once the app is installed.

I would suggest seeing what the Universal Silent Switch Finder would be able to tell you to use for the silent switch. https://deployhappiness.com/the-ultimate-exe-silent-switch-finder/ It might show you something new or confirm part of your silent switch command.
