Dell Venue 11 Pro (7139) Drivers not loading

I wanted to reach out and see if anyone has come across this issue.  I just received the Venue Pro 11 (7139) and am having an issue with the drivers loading during the build.  I can build the laptop fine (preinstall tasks run, OS loads, post install tasks) with no issues.  I'm laying a system image down (image is syspreped) of a Windows 8.1 x64.  I have the driver feed enabled for the 7130.  It doesn't look like the copy driver is running at all during the build.

The drivers that are not loading are

Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 7260

Intel(R) 8 Series SMBus Controller - 9C22

NXP Nearfield Proximity Provider

Thanks

I resolved the issue.  The issue i was having was the DISM was an older version that would not recognize the Windows 8.1 drivers.  I had installed what I thought was the lastest WAIK but looks like I still had the one for windows 8 still installed and it installed 8.1 partically beside it.  I removed both from my computer and installed it from the link below.  This in turn updated the DISM to 6.3.9600.16384 and was able to find the 8.1 drivers.

I would run the driver feed tool on the machine at "\\K2000\drivers_postinstall\feed_tools\driver_feed_discovery_tool.vbs" and verify the path is correct in drivers_postinstall. If that it correct I would individually add those drivers to the correct folder, and recache.

  • Thanks. I have already tried that step and the windows 8.1 drivers will still not load. When i run through the build it gets to the copy driver screen and sits there for a bit but doesn't seem to copy anything (or at least visually like the Windows 7 build). - autiger810 10 years ago
    • Are you using a Win 8 KBE? - dugullett 10 years ago
      • Yes. Downloaded WinPE 5.0 and installed. The OS lays down fine and all other post install tasks run as expected. - autiger810 10 years ago

Did the path generated by driver_feed_discovery_tool.vbs match with what you had in drivers_postinstall\Dell\Windows_8_x64 folder? I have the 7130 venue and the names did not match so I had to rename the folder. Now all the drivers pull down. Sounds like the name being detected is not matching the folder stucture, so it's skipping the drivers.

Comments:
  • I have ran the double driver to add the files to the post_install driver folder. I ran the driver_feed_Discovery_tool and verifed the path matches the name. - autiger810 10 years ago
    • I just tried to run the windows 8.1 build on an E6430 which says it has the windows 8.1 drivers and had the same issue. - autiger810 10 years ago
