how to update the asset type of an asset? (Kace K1000 Asset Management)

Hello, my question would be how can I change the asset type of an asset.

The goal is after hardware arrives to store it under asset-type stock but when a device is issued to change the asset-type to, for example, devices or screens.

Is there any possibility for this? unfortunately I didn't find anything

I thank you for every help

with the Asset Management Appliance there is no official option for that (with KACE Professional Services it is possible since they can do it on the backend: https://www.quest.com/kace/essential-services.aspx )
Withe the "full" KACE Systems Management Appliance you have access to Custom Ticket Rules (in the service desk module)
With them you can change anything in the database. You need to know what to do, but then you have all options. A CTR which sets the Asset Type for all inventoried devices to whatever you want.

And obviously, you can do it manually at all times.

I think you maybe need a little Asset Management guidance that will make your life easier. Asset Types as are there to define what the asset is i.e. a screen, a printer, a phone and should not be changed midway through an Asset's lifecycle.

The Asset Type has data attributes stored within it so that the Assets of that type can be managed i.e. Make, Model, Serial Number etc

Key Asset Data is also assigned to enable you to manage the where, who and when aspects of Asset Management, these include

Status - Is the asset live (active), in stock or missing

Location - Where was the asset last physically seen

Owner - Who is responsible for the asset

in your example/question you should be using the Asset status to define the asset as "In Stock" or in "Stores" not the asset type.

So have a process whereby you create the asset record when it arrives and assign the location, owner and status at that point

i.e. Asset Type - Monitor

Location - Storeroom 3

Owner - IT Dept

Status - Onstock

You can create the Asset record manually on the KACE Admin UI, Using a barcode scanner such as our BarKode app, or by uploading a CSV of assets into KACE.

The one good thing that Nico mentions is that pro services are available to help you plan and implement an effective Asset Management program, if you would like to discuss that further please get in contact.
